Climate and Environmental Protection at HfM Karlsruhe

The topic of climate and environmental protection is represented by several contact persons and points of contact at HfM Karlsruhe:

  • The Climate Protection Manager of HfM Karlsruhe: Michaela Schorpp
  • The Climate Protection Manager of the Karlsruhe Universities: Géza Solar
  • The Permanent Senate Commission for Climate and Environmental Protection (SSKU), also known as the HfM Climate Commission

The task of the Climate Protection Manager is to develop a climate protection concept by June 2026. By 2030, HfM must be completely greenhouse gas neutral. This will happen particularly in collaboration with the Climate Protection Manager of the Karlsruhe Universities and the building management.

The role of the Permanent Senate Commission for Climate and Environmental Protection (SSKU or HfM Climate Commission) is to provide advisory support for the implementation of climate and environmental protection measures at the Karlsruhe University of Music, to advise the Senate on climate and environmental protection issues, and to propose climate and environmental protection measures to the Senate on their own initiative. The commission meets at least once per semester, usually towards the end of the semester. The meetings are always open to the university community and will be announced in advance.
